ZARZUELA: MUSICAL STORYTELLING ACROSS CULTURES
Tuesday, October 28 | 6:00-7:30 PM
Onsite | Free
Presented by Ruth’s Table in partnership with San Francisco Opera and the San Francisco Public Library
Join Cole Thomason-Redus from the San Francisco Opera’s Department of Engagement and Connectivity for a lively presentation celebrating the voices of Latinx and Latin American superstars on the opera stage. Through stories, images, and music, the program explores how these artists have shaped the sound and spirit of opera today.
This special evening opens with a powerful guest performance by local tenor Claudio Santomé and pianist Jerome Lenk, Music Director of Mission Dolores, who bring to life selections from the Zarzuela tradition—Spain’s distinctive blend of opera, theatre, and popular song. Their collaboration adds depth and warmth to an evening rooted in connection, creativity, and cultural exchange.
