Sonoma Fires: Comeback Makes Us Stronger

Exhibition Dates: October 3 - 31, 2019
Opening: October 3 | 6-8pm
Curator: Hanna Regev

Ruth’s Table is pleased to present an exhibition that commemorates the second anniversary of Sonoma Fires.

In October 2017, a series of 250 wildfires ripped across Northern California scorching at least 245,000 acres and destroying over 10,000 structures in what was, at the time, the worst fire disaster in our state’s history.

As Sonoma rebuilds, the comeback is imminent. But the tragedy holds a strong message about the future and the need to build a stronger, more robust foundation, based on new expectations and promise.

What are the lessons that we draw from the horrendous devastation? What does it teach us about resilience and the triumph of the human spirit? Has the time come to make peace with nature? What can we expect in a Comeback?

Through photography, painting, sound, and spoken word, this exhibition invites us to reflect on resilience, rebuilding, healing, and hope.
