VIRTUAL DROP-IN: PAPER PROJECTS IN HONOR OF RUTH ASAWA

"I try to explore the total capacity of materials and techniques and often that takes me where I would not otherwise go". - Ruth Asawa, 2002

This series of three paper workshops are offered in honor of renowned artist Ruth Asawa, and Ruth's Table namesake, who was born 96 years ago on January 24, 1926.

Inspired by Asawa's life-long interest and experimentation with paper folding, also known as origami, the workshops will explore the paper's ability to assume a new form and transform from two dimensions to a three-dimensional object. Using repurposed materials and a variety of paper cutting and folding techniques, participants will explore a selection of paper-based projects, including lotus fold cards, flowers, fold boxes, and a book.
