THE LABYRINTH: A SURE PATH FOR UNCERTAIN TIMES
Friday, July 25th | 5:00-6:00pm
Online | Free
For thousands of years people have drawn, traced, and walked meandering pathways that faithfully lead to center. Discover how the archetypal symbol of the labyrinth has evolved through mythology, history, and spirituality around the world. Unlike a maze with choices and dead ends designed to lose one's way, the unicursal labyrinth helps people to find themselves through insight, awareness, and community. In this one-hour virtual presentation, labyrinth artist Lars Howlett will share images, insights and inspiration from his pilgrimages to sacred sites, creative pursuits and art installations over the last twenty years. The following week, join Lars on July 31st to create your own 'finger labyrinth' and/or a community walkable labyrinth on August 1st. Learn how the labyrinth can be used for ritual, healing, and transformation.

Lars Howlett is a Labyrinth Artist and Master Builder whose work combines sacred geometry, historic research, and mindful craftsmanship to create unique, site-specific labyrinths around the world. Celebrating ten years of professional practice with over one hundred permanent installations, Lars hand-draws and builds each design—whether Classical, Medieval, or Contemporary—working with compass, collaboration, and care. As a Veriditas Faculty Member and Certified Advanced Labyrinth Facilitator, he trained with Lauren Artress at Grace and Chartres Cathedrals and apprenticed under Master Builder Robert Ferré, inheriting his mentor’s tools, techniques, and teaching legacy. Lars’s artwork honors centuries-old traditions while guiding a new generation of builders, creators, and facilitators. His labyrinths are at once functional meditative spaces and works of art, created to reflect the intention, setting, and spirit of each site.
