DRAMA WITH FRIENDS: IN PERSON!
LOLLAPALOOZA

A Mini-Festival of Plays for Audiences with Short Attention Spans

Saturday, July 26 | 3:00-4:30 PM
Onsite | Free

After four years of performing exclusively on zoom, Drama With Friends (DwF) played before a live audience for the first time last November at Ruth’s Table. After the enthusiastic response they received, DwF will be performing again LIVE at Ruth’s Table this Summer!

On Saturday, July 26 Drama with Friends will present LOLLAPALOOZA!, staged readings of five different and evocative theatrical scripts:

GRUESOME GIFT, by Scott McGregor, offers a zany sidebar to the GODFATHER movie plot, as one of Luca Brasi’s henchmen tries to get an equine offering gift-wrapped at a popular department store.

In Jonathan Luskin’s. An OBSTINACY OF SNIPES, a former scoutmaster father and his adult son relive a magical camping trip of yesteryear as they brave a Connecticut sunrise in search of legendary critters.

The rollicking 30 FOOT HAMSTER WHEEL by George Sapio thrusts us right in the middle of an overly-ambitious New York “One-Minute Play Festival” as all hell breaks loose.

Madeline Puccioni’s 79 NORTH narrates the plight of a woman suffering from dementia as she rides a Berkeley bus back into her original neighborhood in search of her beloved home.

FORSOOTH by Catherine Hampton is a spirited backstage visit with a 3rd-rate theatre company as it tours Pocatello, Idaho with MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM – and there is an unexpected twist at the end.

LOLLAPALOOZA will feature actors we saw at Ruth’s Table last November: Andy Hamner, Catherine Hampton, Grace D’Anca, Joe Kaniewski, Mary Gayle Thomas,  and Ugo Baldassari;  they will be joined by Carolyn Jane, Rufus Browning,  Jane Merschen, Michael Lighty and Paulann Sternberg--all mainstays of DwF’s monthly zoom performances.

Drama with Friends is a venue for seniors and people with disabilities, who perform plays primarily for a Zoom audience. They strive to build an inclusive community that has fun while developing both acting and directing skills. Drama with Friends is a project of the Community Living Campaign, which cultivates connections to help seniors and people with disabilities thrive at home (sfcommunityliving.org).
