BASKETS ON THE EDGE
BAY AREA BASKET MAKERS EXPLORE NEW FORMS
OPENING CELEBRATION
Friday | October 24 | 5:00-8:00 pm
Onsite | All are welcome
Ruth’s Table closes the year with Baskets on the Edge, a group exhibition of the Bay Area Basket Makers. Since 1984, this collective has gathered around the form of the basket—carrying forward a tradition of craft and community while pressing into new ground.
Their work speaks through materials both natural and unexpected—kelp, pine needles, wire mesh, recycled plastic—recasting the basket not only as vessel but as art in its own right.
The opening celebration on October 24 features a live DJ set by Fingersnaps Media Arts, inviting artists, neighbors, and friends to gather and launch Ruth’s Table’s final exhibition of the year.
Baskets on the Edge honors the artists—the makers whose skill, experimentation, and persistence transform what might otherwise be overlooked into something vital. This exhibition is a vehicle to carry their stories forward and open new avenues of recognition and exchange.
